Yearly Check Ups

Regular wellness exams are essential to keeping your pet happy and healthy. We recommend that all pets receive an annual “nose-to-tail” wellness exam, though more frequent visits may be advised depending on age, lifestyle, or medical needs. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and routine exams allow us to detect potential health concerns early, before they become costly or life-threatening.

During a wellness exam, we perform a thorough evaluation of your pet, including an examination of the nose, eyes, and ears; an assessment of the teeth and oral cavity; listening to the heart and lungs; and a careful review of the skin and coat for any unusual lumps or swelling. We also palpate the abdomen and muscles and conduct an orthopedic evaluation of the bones, joints, and spine.

Preventative care services such as vaccinations, heartworm testing, and fecal exams are also key components of keeping your pet healthy and protected throughout their life.

Surgery, X-Rays, & Ultrasounds

Our practice is proud to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and highly skilled veterinary professionals to ensure your pet receives safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Digital X-Rays are one of the most valuable tools for quickly and accurately diagnosing your pet’s condition. By providing detailed images of your pet’s bones and internal organs, x-rays help identify orthopedic issues such as fractures, hip dysplasia, and arthritis, as well as conditions affecting the heart, lungs, and abdomen. This technology allows our veterinarians to diagnose concerns such as heart disease, bladder stones, tumors, and other health problems efficiently. We use the latest digital radiographic technology, operated by well-trained technicians to ensure precise results with minimal stress for your pet.

Ultrasounds can be an important, non-invasive diagnostic tool for your pet. Used primarily for abdominal and cardiac problems, Norwalk Veterinary Hospital is equipped with the latest veterinary ultrasound technology to help diagnose disease and other health problems quickly and efficiently.

Often considered more exact than x-rays, ultrasound provides our veterinarians with a real-time “movie” of what is happening inside your pet’s body. Ultrasound can provide highly detailed images of your pet’s organs, leading to a fast and accurate diagnosis. Because the procedure is non-invasive, anesthesia is generally not required, resulting in a less stressful and more comfortable visit for your pet.

Pharmacy

Our pharmacy offers specialty compounded and flavored medications. We maintain an extensive inventory of veterinary pharmaceuticals, supplies, and medications. In addition, we provide custom compounded pharmaceuticals, including flavored liquids and transdermal preparations. These specialized formulations are especially helpful for pets who are difficult to medicate, making treatment easier for both pets and their owners.

Our Treatment Room

We have a fully staffed treatment facility featuring state-of-the-art IDEXX machines, allowing us to perform all in-house blood work, heartworm testing, fecal examinations, and urinalysis. Laboratory testing plays an integral role in the early detection of changes in your pet’s health, providing essential information that helps our veterinarians identify blood disorders, kidney and liver disease, diabetes, infections, cancer, thyroid disease, and other hormonal or metabolic problems.

Dental hygiene is also crucial for your pet’s overall health, and we encourage annual dental exams and professional cleanings when needed. Our hospital has trained technicians who perform full dental cleanings using advanced equipment to ensure your pet maintains optimal dental health.
